Jouke Dijkstra

Introduction

Dr. Dijkstra is associate Professor at LUMC-LKEB, where he is the leader of the “vascular and molecular imaging” section. He has been working at the division of image processing since 1996 and is responsible for the research in vessel imaging, in particular IntraVascular UltraSound, Optical Coherence Tomography and Computed Tomographic Angiography. The research resulted in several scientific publications and analytical software packages, which have been transferred to the industry and are used world wide. These packages are still being expanded with new functionality. Several grants from STW and the Ministry of Economical affairs have been approved for this research, like the current project on risk assessment if cardiovascular diseases from Computed Tomographic Angiographic images.

Furthermore he is responsible for the molecular imaging post-processing research including image guided surgery. Molecular imaging related projects currently under his supervision are the CYTTRON I and II project which is a Dutch government sponsored project about imaging from molecular through the cellular level and he is co-Principle Investigator of the CTMM – MUSIS project. MUSIS is a government sponsored projects about the development of methods for image guided surgery, both open en endoscopic surgery using multispectral imaging and fluorescent cancer targeting probes for better tumor resection.

The focus of the section is the development of quantitative software for image and signal processing algorithms for biomedical image processing.
